How Does It Work?
As we observed in the video on our home page, the Bible is just like every other book in the world in at least this respect: it has a beginning, an end, and a finite number of pages in between. Accordingly, we can read it. All of it. And we can become familiar with all of it, too.
That is the goal of The 3x5 Club's year-long adventure: to become familiar with the entire Word of God. To that end, we will read it every day. Our pace will be bite-sized. We'll read 3 chapters each day of the week, Monday through Saturday, and then we'll read 5 chapters each Sunday. At that rate, we'll finish the whole Bible, cover-to-cover, by the end of the year.
In addition to the daily reading, we'll take advantage of weekly online resources provided on our web site. These will include brief teaching videos to help us understand what we're reading. Also, book summaries, time lines, maps, charts, introductions to important characters, explanations of major themes -- all of these will be provided throughout the year.
At the same time, we know that too much information can be overwhelming, and that becomes discouraging. Accordingly, the resources will be paced and provided in a very manageable fashion. Each week's resources will be contained on a single web page -- less material than many of us read each day in online news, sports, shopping, and research.
Our online resources will also include an interactive element. Part of the great benefit of The 3x5 Club, you see, is that you are reading along with a lot of other people. And so we'll take advantage of that common experience by providing an online forum for asking, answering, and discussing our questions together.
Little by little, our learning will grow. We'll read a little each day. We'll study online a little each week. And, by the end of the year, all of those little daily and weekly efforts will have snowballed into a tremendous wealth of knowledge and understanding.
It takes discipline, of course, to make a daily investment -- even a small one. This is an investment, however, that will pay dividends every day of your life for as long as you live. For the rest of your life, you will always be grateful that you spent this year reading and studying the Bible in The 3x5 Club!
